Brockville and District Association for Community Involvement is operated by a volunteer board of directors. These members are personally connected to the work that BDACI is doing. Some are people with lived experience themselves, advocates for persons with disabilities, some are parents, long time friends or concerned and committed community members . All want to help be a part of what BDACI is doing for our community
Kimberley Gavan is the Executive Director of BDACI and has been since February 2017. Prior to this, Kimberley was the Director of Community Development with Community Living Ontario and the Executive Director of NABORS in Toronto and served in numerous other roles and work within the Community Living movement for several decades, both locally and provincially.
Throughout her life, Kimberley’s closest circle of friends, family members, and colleagues has included, and continues to include, people who have an intellectual, or other disabilities. These personal relationships are important to her and have driven her lifelong goal and mission to see people with a disability being fully included in society; having their rights upheld and respected; and being supported to fully decide and pursue their goals, passions, and dreams. Along with a deeply committed facilitation team, who bring rich experience and diverse backgrounds to the work, together they stand alongside families affiliated to BDACI advocating for equitable access and opportunity to all that the community has to offer.
“We strive to inspire new possibilities through supporting the learning of new skills, offering employment help, facilitating the development of lasting relationships, and spreading a message of community and inclusion.”
